What Is the Way?

Updated: Aug 12

"Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37:5

What is the way I'm supposed to go?

How do I commit it to Him?

How can I trust Him when everything looks like a mess?

When we are seeking the Lord first He puts a desire in our hearts for His will. His will always honors the Word, builds the Kingdom, and gives Him the glory.

Sometimes what He calls us to do makes no sense to anyone else. Usually it is something that is beyond what we think we are capable to do and it's not always easy.

What is the way you are supposed to go? Ask the One who made you, the One who called you, the One who knows your past, present and future!

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD." Psalm 37:23

If someone asked you for directions how to get to the next gas station we would not hesitate to tell them how they can refuel their car. How much more would our good Father not hesitate to tell us which direction to go! The answer may not include all the details. He may only give us one step at a time, but He will lead us in the way we need to go.

How do I commit to Him? I love the song "Even If" by Mercy Me. One line says, "I know You're able, and I know You can save through the fire with Your mighty hand, but even if You don't my hope is You alone." Committing our path to God is to get to the point that no matter what we will not abandon our relationship or faith in Him. Even if our plans get altered or even completely changed we must understand in our soul that His Word is true.

Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."

When Peter failed to stand by Jesus' side to death, he wept with grief at his failure. In the moment of restoration Jesus says to Peter, "Do you love Me?" Not once, but three times Jesus asked him this question. Complete redemption for Peter's plans and intentions that did not work out as he planned. God used that devastation and disappointment to sift Peter and make him into the man the Lord created Him to be. He used it for good because Peter loved Him.

How can I trust Him during the mess? We can trust Him because His love is perfect, His word is true, and He never changes. We have a perfect heavenly Father that loves us more than we can comprehend, and a perfect Savior that lived on this earth and faced the enemy head on for us. Jesus died, defeated death, and now sits at the right hand of the Father praying for us! Jesus also prayed for us before He was crucified. "“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word...that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17:20-26

Father may we commit our way to you today! We ask that you will use our messes for your glory, and that we will trust You and love You with our whole heart! Amen
