"The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray."
Proverbs 12:26

Yesterday morning, I was talking with a friend at church, and it reminded me of something my mom used to tell me when I was younger.
“You become who you surround yourself with.” That simple sentence has stayed with me all these years because it is true. The people you spend time with shape how you think, speak, and live. Their values slowly become your values. Their priorities start to feel normal. Your surroundings matter because your heart is always learning.
God cares about your community because He cares about your growth. When you surround yourself with people who seek the Lord, you are encouraged to do the same. When you stay close to voices that honor truth, it becomes easier to live it out. When you stay around constant negativity or compromise, it quietly pulls you away from what God desires for you.
This is not about perfection. It is about direction.
Take a moment today and look around. Ask yourself who is influencing you the most right now. Ask the Lord if your relationships are helping you grow closer to Him or pulling you away. Pray for wisdom and courage to choose a community that reflects the life you want to live and the faith you want to grow.
Lord, help me be intentional about who I surround myself with. Give me wisdom to choose relationships that point me back to You. Shape my heart so my life reflects You more each day. Amen.
