"Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." Matthew 10:27-31
This last weekend at the Tabernacle of Light we witnessed the power behind a testimony. Sharing our testimony can bring to surface different emotions for people, but when the Lord has saved, redeemed, rescued and restored us in any way we should spread the hope! We may not get behind a pulpit to tell a crowd, but we can tell someone the Lord puts in our path.
When Jesus was sending out the disciples He gave them specific instructions for their mission. He told them to "be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove" because He knew they would need to walk in wisdom, power and grace to be in His will. He also told them to not worry about what they would speak when they were brought before governors and kings because the Spirit would speak through them as they testify of Jesus.
I can only imagine this seemed like an overwhelming mission! Probably why Jesus reassured them of their value. That they shouldn't fear the persecution that would come because not even a sparrow falls to the ground outside of God's will. They needed to hear they were worth more than a sparrow and that God even knows the number of hairs on their head. They were valuable, and so are you!
Even though sharing our testimony these days looks a little different than it did then, His words are still perfect for us today! Don't worry about what you will say because the Holy Spirit will give you the words, don't worry about what people do or say about you, and know your worth! The enemy will try and use your past against you, but it is covered by the blood of Jesus so you walk in confidence knowing you are His child! You are saved, redeemed and restored so you can shine your light out in the dark world!
