"The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart...” Psalm 34:18-19
I have had a few people in my path the past couple of weeks that are grieving the loss of a loved one. One I shared tears with as we discussed how it seems there is no way out of this world without heartbreak.
One of my favorite sayings of Jesus is when He is on the cross. "When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, 'Woman, behold your son!' Then He said to the disciple, 'Behold your mother!'" What compassion our sweet Savior had even on the cross. He knew that they would both be grieving and need each other. He knew the trauma this was for them and even though He would rise, He would only be with them for a bit.
We can rest assured that the same Savior that had compassion for them, sees our pain and is interceding for us as well. He is a risen Savior, a perfect Hight Priest that sits at the right hand of the Father and loves us! He felt the grief of betrayal, abandonment, and goodbyes. Usually people were waiting on Jesus, until it was time for Him to die for on the cross. Mark says "Jesus was going before them; and they were amazed" because this was unusual. Jesus was focused, and He was going to open the doors for us to eternal life.
I want to tell you today that if your heart is hurting for any reason He sees you. Grief comes in different packages and maybe you aren't grieving the loss of a loved one, but you are grieving the loss of what you thought life was supposed to look like or the loss of your significance. He sees you. Our loving Father sees you and hears your hearts cry. Rest in His presence and ask Him to carry you through the day. Don't worry about how you will make it tomorrow, just walk with Him today. He loves you more than you will ever comprehend.
