Unoffended

“Blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” Matthew 11:6

Do you believe that the Lord really does work all things together for the good of those that love Him? If we believe the Word then we should believe it!

Sometimes things look like they’re getting worse, sometimes circumstances seem to be impossible and sometimes we are terrified to speak life into a situation because we have been burned so many times.

The truth is that each time we go through trials we have the opportunity to become more like Jesus as we seek Him in our weakest moments.

I think of the record of John sending his disciples to ask Jesus if He is the Messiah or if they should look for another. Jesus’ answer included confirmation of who He was, but then He followed it by, “Blessed is he who is not offended by Me”. John had previously baptized Jesus, He saw the Holy Spirit descend on Him and John heard the Father. He KNEW who Jesus was, but his circumstances were not what he expected, including prison, and so he doubted that this could be God’s plan.

If we can understand that Jesus is loving and compassionate, we can accept when life doesn’t look like we thought it would because our hope is in Him and we can trust Him. We can trust that He works things out in His timing. He can also take a terrible mess and turn it around.

We need to also understand that sometimes our circumstances feel like they’re getting worse before a breakthrough. John is a great reminder of how our life is not about us, it’s about God’s glory in us.

Today I pray that you are not offended by the Father if you are seeking Him and the battle is hard. In our worst times, even in tears, declare loudly, “Father I trust you! I know that You see me and hear me! I will love You even when…”.

He loves you and you can trust Him!
