"Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." John 8:32
Have you ever had one of those moments where the lightbulb finally lit up? You had been pondering something, or maybe praying and believing, but you finally had a moment where it all became clear.
Jesus said in John 8:31, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” There is so much goodness in these verses! Freedom is on the other side of knowing the truth.
I have a precious friend that had been speaking God's truth into her life for years. She was abiding in the Word, having Jesus as her best friend, and receiving love from the Father. Here recently, though, she received the revelation that she really was made new. The truth that she was clothed in righteousness through His blood became a reality. The enemy tried to remind her of her past, but instead of letting shame and self condemnation take root she spoke truth and for the first time instead of just saying it, she felt it. . That robe of righteousness sure is beautiful!
I read the perfect summary of this recently, and that is facts versus truth. We as God's children stand on truth, not facts. Facts are real, but truth is what God says about it. Maybe the fact is that you have a sketchy past, but the truth is God has redeemed you! The fact may be that you have been hurt, but the truth is that God sees you and will heal your heart. The fact may be that you are lonely, but the truth is that Jesus says He will never leave us and has sent the Holy Spirit as our Comforter. Whatever the facts are in your life today I pray that you, like my friend, can have a revelation moment of truth to see what our Almighty God says about the situation.
God bless you!
