“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38
Have you ever felt like you always get the short end of the stick or know someone that does? Why do bad things happen to great people. Some things we may never understand this side of heaven.
What we do know is that El Roi, the God who sees, sees it all. God saw Hagar in her rejection and agony by a spring in the desert, He saw the woman at the well and He saw the man by the pool at Bethesda. It seems something happens by the water...
Thirty-eight years this man laid there unable to make it into the water. The sadness and disappointment must have been crushing. God saw His situation and he was handpicked by the Father for Jesus to heal. Do you know that God sees you? God doesn’t always provide the solution we are looking for because His ways are not our ways. The man probably found it unusual that Jesus asked if he wanted to be well and then told him to pick up his mat. God often asks us to step out in faith toward our answer. We must believe that He is working out the details we don’t understand. God sending someone to help him into the water would have made sense, Jesus laying hands on his legs and praying during the week would have made sense, but that is not always how God works.
When He moves in our life, it is for His glory and we cannot determine, nor fathom, how that will play out. Maybe it was 38 years because God wanted Jesus to show the man he didn’t need stirred waters, He just needed Living Water. Maybe your miracle or breakthrough is delayed because there is someone that needs to see or hear your testimony to believe! Is your battle worth a delay for someone’s soul?
Brennon Manning stated that “I could more easily contain Niagara Falls in a teacup than I can comprehend the wild, uncontainable love of God.” If we can grasp this, then we can know that a loving Father may not want us in the water the angel stirred, He may want us to have an encounter with Him that changes everything! I pray you feel His love today!
