SLOW DOWN IN LOVE

"Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."

[1 John 4:11]

When I reflect on my childhood play time I remember having so much fun dressing up in my mothers heels and fur coat and driving around in our golf cart.

I told my husband if what you played as a child was a reflection of who you were supposed to be then I missed my calling because I obviously should have been a rich stay at home wife!

Here recently on three separate occasions I have been in discussions with friends about how we have to be patient with people when their spiritual growth is a different speed than ours. We have to remember our journey with the Lord is ours and other people have their own personal journey so we can’t expect them to always be on the same page.

The example I used in this discussion was that sometimes we have to sell our racecar and buy a golf cart so that we can come alongside loved ones and encourage them for a bit.

Remember, Paul said “I became all things to all people”.

He wasn’t saying we compromise our faith, he was saying he was willing to accept different (and sometimes uncomfortable) circumstances to connect with people so that they could be saved.

It is such a great thing to see the potential in people and see how much God loves them! It is just so important we don’t become frustrated when they're driving at a leisurely 12 mph and we are locked in at the top speed of 200mph.

I pray today that if you are in a golf cart you keep it floored to keep moving and if you are in a racecar then I pray you keep your eyes on the road!

I ask God to bless you and help you on your journey today.

I pray He shows you His glory!
