"Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms."
[Psalm 95:2]
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!
We are fortunate to live near our family so we have three meals in 24 hours. It’s so much food, but it’s not all about the food.
It’s about the time spent with family!
I won’t lie though, we do all start counting down for my grandmother’s homemade bread. It's a family favorite!
The Bible says to “come before His presence with thanksgiving”. Gratitude isn’t always how we start off and being negative can become a habit. We must make it a point to be grateful to God.
There is always something to be thankful for even in the midst of the worst situations.
Research shows that the most effective way to have joy is to practice gratitude. Joy doesn’t make us grateful, being grateful gives us joy.
The Bible also says that the “joy of the Lord is our strength” so in those tough times if gratitude cultivates joy and we need strength, then it is a simple solution to be intentional about finding things to be thankful for!
I’m not sure about your family, but it is loud at our thanksgiving. We get so excited about being together and spending time eating and talking.
Our heavenly Father deserves this very same excitement about time spent with Him. It should not be hard to enter His courts with praise and bless His name. It’s in these moments that He heals our soul, fills our cup with joy and strengthens us.
Today, and maybe for 21 days to make a habit, write three things you’re thankful for and see what it does for you!
God bless you this week! I want you to know I am thankful for you. I am thankful that we are on a journey together, serving the King of Kings!
