PROTECTED

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."

[PROVERBS 4:23]

I remember growing up hearing people pray for a “hedge of protection” for people. I still to this day pray that very prayer.

In these last days we not only want to pray for physical protection, but we need to be praying for our heart and soul to be protected. Our soul is our mind, will and emotions.

What we look at, read, and watch really does affect us. The bible tells us to “guard our heart for it is the wellspring of life”. Paul also tells us to be “transformed by the renewing of our mind”.

If we can be renewed by what we put in we can certainly be destroyed by it also.

One time I was growing lettuce in the garden and I was so proud because my thumb is more emerald green than green…somewhere between green and black.

By God’s grace my lettuce was amazing and then all of a sudden there were these worms. They were the exact same color as the lettuce so they could easily hide.

I picked the lettuce before they ruined it and would shake it out, rinse it out and then check it again. I was terrified I would miss one and accidently eat it. I think this is how we should handle what goes into our minds and hearts.

Rinse, shake and double check!

We need the cleansing blood of Jesus over our minds; for Him to shake out the things that are there that shouldn’t be and then we need to keep a watch to make sure something doesn’t pop up unexpectedly!

God today I declare that as a new creation I have the mind of Christ and I ask that you reveal to me anything that needs to be cleansed. I ask you to remove any “worms” in my heart or mind that the world has placed there and replace it with Your truth and love. Please place a hedge of protection around my heart and soul.

Amen
