"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you..." Acts 1:8
Are you needing strength to do something? Is the road too long, too steep, too rocky, or maybe you just can't see what's ahead?
When Jesus told His followers to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit, He knew they couldn't walk the road ahead without the Spirit of God.
Can you imagine what they must have been thinking and how they felt? They trusted Jesus so they were obedient, but they had no idea what was about to happen. The promise was unknown territory.
How many times have we been walking into unknown territory? Sometimes when God calls us to an assignment, we feel unqualified and unequipped. This is when we know we need the power of the Holy Spirit. The truth is, we shouldn't do anything without asking for the counsel of the Spirit of God! I find great encouragement knowing that the people in the upper room waiting on the Holy Spirit were just ordinary people that had a testimony of knowing Jesus. The Lord knew that they would need power to do what He had called them to do.
If we were driving a vehicle up a treacherous road, we would need more power to get us where we were going. In our spiritual life we need more power, the power of the Holy Spirit to get us where the Lord is leading us! Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you up!
