"Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so that we too might walk in newness of life." Romans 6:4
Recently I heard a testimony of someone that had a nickname from their past that no longer fit their newness of life in Christ. When addressed by the old nickname they respond by saying, "Well, that person is dead." That's truth, my friend! My favorite testimonies are from people that it's hard to believe who they were before they met Jesus. Our pastor says leave it in the water when we get baptized!
Transformation happens as we spend time with the Lord in His Word and in prayer. The more time we spend with Jesus the more like Him we become.
It's impossible to stay the same when we are walking with the Lord. We all have wounds that need healing, ingrained ideas and beliefs that need to be corrected, and we need to just receive more of the love of our Father.
Some of us need to look at ourselves as the new person we are. God no longer remembers our sins, so why are we replaying them? Sometimes we need to quit looking at the forgotten past of our brothers and sisters in Christ and see them through the eyes of Jesus. Jesus said to get the log out of our own eye so we can see clearly to take the speck out of our brother's eye. There are times that the Lord calls us to see the treasure in people before they even see it themselves.
Today I pray we celebrate what we have overcome! I pray that the giants of our past are truly dead and that the Lord will give us a fresh revelation of the power in the blood that washes us white as snow! My friends, I smell something new!
