"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever."
[Hebrews 13:3]
Happy New Year! I hope your first day of the new year was good!
A dear friend said, “It’s a new year, new you, same God!” We live in a culture that is always looking for the next best thing or the latest trend. The Word tells us that ”Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and forever”.
Let’s unpack her quote!
The new year reminds us there is more time! The most valuable thing we have is time and a new year reminds us the God of the universe is allowing us more. The Word tells us to “look carefully how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time”. In the new year can we make better use of our time in any way?
The new year can also remind us of a fresh start. Just like we buy a new calendar and God washes away the sins of our past when we repent, we sometimes need to be reminded that like the crisp new white paper of the calendar our sins are washed white as snow.
Don’t look back.
What about the new you? What is it you need to leave in the past? Is there an area of your life that the enemy keeps bringing up that has actually been washed white as snow?
Don’t let the enemy trick you into doubting the goodness and promises of God like he did Eve in the garden. God is so good! He always has been and always will be. He loves you and wants to see you grow and flourish to become more like Him!
So, what does the new you look like?
How would you like to be more like our Abba Father this year?
Lastly, He is the same God. As we grab the wheel to steer our way through this next year remember that the same God that delivered Daniel out of the lions den, that walked Joseph through years of trials to promotion, that saved Saul of Tarsus and used him to write most of the New Testament, that told Peter to step out on that water and that put a soldiers ear back on that Peter chopped off is the EXACT SAME God that we serve today.
He is mighty and awesome. He is loving and powerful. He is perfect and He IS LOVE.
Best news is, He always will be!
Grab that calendar friends and let’s grow together in the magnificent and beautiful love of Jesus!
