LISTEN UP

"Call to me and I will answer you..."

[Jeremiah 33:3]

One time when one of the kids were very little they said to me,

“Did the words not go in your ears?”

Heaven only knows what I had missed, but I love this honest question!

How many times have we heard the sound but not the actual message. There is so much noise in our lives these days. I wonder what it was like when there was no television, telephone or even radio. How much easier it must have been to hear the Lord and listen to the people in their lives!

The Word tells us to be “quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry”. Oh, the times I have failed on this one and had to repent. Have you ever pulled out your sword like Peter and “cut someone’s ear off” thinking you were helping and Jesus had to clean up your mess?

Forgive us Father when we don’t handle situations better!

Jesus calls those that hear and obey blessed. If we can let His word “go in our ears”, let that become our truth and promise, then we can walk in obedience to the life He has called us to.

“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” Romans 10:17

Lastly, God says that if we call on Him He will answer us. If He will answer us, are we listening? I love the story of George Washington Carver.

He asked the Lord to show him about the peanut and the Lord sent him back to the lab and there he broke the peanut down and mixed the ingredients in various ways and came up with more than 300 uses for the peanut, making him the father of the peanut industry.

Have you asked God for your secret, for your purpose, for your answers?

When we do, we better listen up and be ready to write down what He says!
