In His Boat

“And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide…” Genesis 22:14

Years ago the contract was ending for my husband’s job, and we didn’t know what was next. Our daughter was just a toddler and every day he would come home and tell me who they had sent home that day. I can look back now and see how God took care of us during that time. The Lord provided a job before he was let go from the layoff. Best of all, the job that ended had been preparing him for the new opportunity!

When we are in the middle of the storm it seems to be the norm to panic and worry, but this isn’t what we should do according to the Word. One of the names of God is Jehovah Jireh, which means The-Lord-Will-Provide. We should have a reverent fear and trust in God that He will always provide for us because He loves us.

Jesus in His time here on earth faced every emotion we feel, and He now sits at the right hand of God interceding for us.

I love the story of Jesus sleeping in the boat during the storm. I’m fairly certain there have been moments I would have been the one to wake Him and say, “It’s the end, we’re going down and You’re just sleeping.” To which he would have replied, “Why are you afraid?”

If we know Him and we are in His boat, then we can be at peace knowing the boat isn’t going down. In fact, the boat is going to arrive at the right place, at the right time and the right people will be on shore to welcome us. I pray today if your circumstances are unsure that you get in His boat. Find a seat right beside Jesus and if He is resting, then you rest too because He is not shaken by what is going on around you. He sees you and will provide everything you need if you ask Him.
