“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
Do you have friends that love the Lord, stand by you through hard times, celebrate good times and challenge you to be who God has called you to be?
If you don’t, ask the Lord to connect you to His people! Friends are important, and gifts from God.
The fourth person in the furnace was the highlight and saving grace in the story of Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego, but I would imagine there was strength in numbers as they were thrown into that furnace together as punishment for their faith in God. We need each other, especially during fiery trials!
As a Christian it is so important for us to have people that can hold us up, pray for us, encourage us, and keep us accountable. Even the disciples were sent out for ministry in twos. There may be seasons we feel alone or maybe we are separated and set apart for our growth, but it is in these seasons we focus on who our best Friend is. Jesus sticks closer than a brother and He can be invited to our table, to ride shotgun for a road trip or to sit on the back porch for the sunset.
I pray that if you’re in the fire, that you have friends with you and that you feel the presence of the Almighty and know that you are surrounded by His angels. I pray that if you are lonely, that the LORD be your best friend and that He give you people to connect with. Lastly, I pray most of all that He be invited into every moment of our lives so that we truly know we are never alone.
