Fearless Obedience

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Fear should not hold us back from obedience. The enemy is a liar and when we are faced with a decision the Lord has put before us, the enemy will try everything he can to keep us distracted and disobedient. Fear if often an issue when we are called to do hard things, but we know right where fear comes from!

Our journey with the Lord must have a foundation of trust. Trusting that our Father loves us, believing that He withholds no good thing from His children, trusting that He is working in ways we can’t understand and trusting that His plans are greater than we can see.

We live in a fallen world with imperfect people so part of our journey will include seeking forgiveness for our sin and forgiving others for theirs. That also includes asking the Father to heal our heart. Sometimes that healing takes time. My mom’s foot has been injured and it has been a battle for her. There have been different layers of healing. The wound had to heal on the surface, but the nerves are also trying to heal which has caused her much pain. She has had to be patient and do what the doctor has recommended. At times it looked like it wasn’t healing. Sometimes this is what our spiritual journey looks like, but we must continue to walk in obedience and let the Lord heal one step at a time.

As we abide, we can more easily recognize lies of the enemy. Again, fear is one we will regularly rebuke. I pray we not let fear hold us back from letting go of something God has told us to let go of. I pray we do not miss a chance to step out in faith to be obedient to something He is whispering in our hearts. I pray today we hear the voice of a loving heavenly Father over all the lies of the enemy!
