"But He answered and said to the one who told Him, 'Who is My mother and who are My brothers?' And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, 'Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.'"
Recently I had a sister in Christ share her story of healing with me. She can't even talk about it without tears of joy and gratitude. She was 40 days and nights in the hospital during covid and by the grace of God is still alive to tell her story. Then, I was visiting with another sister in Christ and she shared with me the story of how God set her husband free from an addiction to alcohol. I had no clue what he had overcome. I got so excited about his testimony and told her I needed to hear it all!
Being in the Kingdom family doesn't mean you're perfect or that life has been or will be perfect. It's quite the opposite because when we encounter Jesus we see our need for His grace. We become overwhelmed by our need for salvation. Salvation is just the beginning because then we can spend the rest of our journey being molded to become more like Him. In that molding is where we find healing and freedom.
We are His family when we do His will, and it's His will that we live a life connected to Him. I am reminded of the woman at the well. She needed salvation and redemption. I love that Jesus chose her as a vessel to tell people that she had met the Messiah. He chose her to redeem and show people the power of His love. He chooses us too! Yes, YOU.
Wouldn't you do what's best for your family? Yes, you would. If your children asked for help to overcome an obstacle, wouldn't you help? Yes, of course. If your brother or sister in tears of desperation asked for your help, wouldn't you? Yes, absolutely. Well, my friend, if you are a believer, then you are His family and unlike some of our earthly families this one is not dysfunctional. In this family you are loved, and in this family we tell everyone we can what our Father has done for us! Today I pray we find our place in the Kingdom Family and walk according to His will!
