"Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God."
[1 Peter 3:3-4]
When I was a little girl my Nana had a makeup vanity in the spare bedroom and that was my favorite place to play. I would rearrange and play in her makeup, and she didn’t mind at all.
I could have burned it down and she would have just said, “Oh Sugar, the smoke smells nice!”
When caboodles came out she kept her skin care in one. Nana always had her make-up on which included a little blue eye shadow and she smelled amazing.
Her best quality was she had a smile that made you feel like the most special person in the world. When she called you “Sugar” she meant it.
I bought me a caboodle here recently and it’s blue like her eyeshadow. I want to be like my Nana in the way that she loved others.
The Bible says “the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him”.
I heard someone say one time “if a barn needs painting, paint it”. I think that is so funny! If you need a little makeup then put it on, but don’t ignore the condition of your heart.
Let us take a deeper look at what our heart needs.
> Do we need to forgive and heal?
> Do we need to be courageous and not fear?
> Do we need to love and not judge?
May our heart be loyal to Him so that people will see His love in our eyes, not just the mascara on our lashes.
I pray today as you gear up for the week ahead you remember that He will show Himself STRONG on your behalf as you turn your heart to be loyal to Him. Sugar, as nana would say, know that God favors those that seek the Kingdom and His righteousness.
So let us seek Him!
