"For you are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth. By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother's womb. My praise shall be continually of you. I have become as a wonder to many, but You are my strong refuge. Let my mouth be filled with Your praise and with Your glory all the day."
[Psalm 71:5-8]
Sometimes the tiny things in life bring about the greatest wonder! My two precious nieces found a hummingbird nest in the flowerpot of their playhouse, and I am in love with this photo. It says miracle, new life, and curiosity.
“Sometimes the tiniest things in life bring about the greatest wonder!”
There are five eggs, but hummingbirds only lay two at a time so from what we have read it means the nest is shared by more than one mother. The number five represents God’s grace; being able to share our life, our hopes, and our dreams with others is a reminder of God’s grace.
I am so blessed to have amazing friends that dream big for the Kingdom of God. It’s so incredibly exciting when you realize that the dreams and visions God put in your heart line up with one another. It’s like the miracle of the future, the hope of something God put in your heart, waits to be born in the same nest as someone else’s vision.
For example, maybe you want to have a soup kitchen. Maybe you’re hospitable, but you can’t cook a box of macaroni. When you share your dream, your friend has teary eyes because she has always dreamed of this very same thing, and she can cook! This, my friend, means you share a nest!
The small group Bible study I am in shared some of our dreams and we all squealed with excitement at how God could pair us together and connect our visions. My favorite part of this photo is the tiny hand with pink fingernails. That little hand is connected to a voice that calls me Aunt CheyChey and it melts my heart. When asked where the mama hummingbirds were she said, “Oh! I know where they’re at! They’re maybe at work.” Yes child, us Mamas work hard and it feels nonstop!
I want us to take the time to be curious like my niece. Peek in the nest and rearrange the eggs. May we recover this wonder and curiosity for what God is up to in our life if it’s lost! Multiple times in the New Testament people were “full of wonder” at the miracles of Jesus. Our lives should be full of wonderful moments even in seasons of waiting or trial. God is good and He is near to those who call on Him. His grace is sufficient and when we walk with others on our journey, we are able to draw strength, courage and inspiration.
Lastly, remember that even if you feel intimidated by life’s surroundings or your dreams seem too small in comparison to others, someone is waiting on you to fulfill your destiny. You fulfilling your God given assignment may be the very thing that sets them free from a life of disappointment and pain. Hummingbirds are so tiny, but they’re strong, can fly up to 65mph and even their sound draws attention. Look at your nest, move those eggs around, check out whose eggs are with yours and then start preparing for what will hatch!

I love the idea of “sharing your nest” God gives us visions but we fill that we cannot make it happen. God has in mind others that will put this vision in action! 🤍
Sister, as I read your devotional my heart wells up with great joy and excitement for you and the future. Also, the idea of a shared nest has me leaping for joy too! Can’t wait to see who I share a nest with in this journey we call life. Thanks for being a part of my walk thus far.
What a great message.
Thank you for a beautiful and strong message 🙌🏻
I’m so proud of you for taking a giant leap of faith! I don’t know where we are headed, but I’m so excited to be along for the ride ❤️
