"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." Philippians 2:12-14
It is so easy to compare ourselves to others. We can compare and feel insignificant, and we can also compare and be puffed up. We should not be doing either. Paul says "I do not even judge myself" in 1 Corinthians 14:3. Only God can judge, so we just focus on our relationship with Him.
The religious people were confident they were doing things right according to the the Law and they crucified Jesus. God, help us not to be religious people that miss You and what you are doing!
Jesus did things differently and He loved people that the religious people would have never chosen. The misfit, the outcast and rebel. If Zacchaeus, Peter or Mary Magdalene had spent all their days comparing themselves to the other followers then they might have missed what Jesus had for them by walking in shame or self condemnation.
Each of us has a unique story. The Lord has chosen you, He has a specific journey, and it is different than anyone else. I pray today that you know you are a treasure! God loves to watch you live life, He loves to spend time with you, and He longs to "work in you for His good pleasure". God is a good Father and He loves you the same as He loves His other children.
May He pour out His favor and blessings on you and your journey today!
