"A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps."
[Proverbs 16:9]
Recently at church my sister in Christ made a reference to God working in our lives and she said,
“WHOEVER, WHENEVER, HOWEVER!”
This moves me!
God’s ways are not our ways and although we may make plans, the Lord orders our steps!
I love the story of the woman at the well. Do you think Jesus really wanted a drink? Or was he just starting conversation? The way she ran back to town, she may have not even given him a drink!
Henry Blackaby teaches that one of the ways God speaks is through our circumstances. Sometimes we are so caught up in the circumstance itself we tend to forget to ask Jesus where He is in the situation.
The woman at the well was confused by his question, maybe even nervous because why would He even speak to her. Jesus didn’t do things traditionally.
Well, how many times are our circumstances confusing, nerve wracking, painful or maybe even annoying? I think of times that God tugs at our heart to move into something new and we hesitate because we are comfortable, or maybe complacent.
If we are seeking Him, yet ignoring that tug He will sometimes make our circumstances uncomfortable to get us to move. I think the woman at the well was uncomfortable. I think her circumstances were heartbreaking and I picture her as skeptical that this stranger had the answer.
Until He showed her who He was, and then her heart and circumstances were forever changed! I just get so excited picturing her going back to town to tell everyone! New wine can’t be poured into old wineskin, or it will bust.
He had to expose, heal and make new so He could pour that living water into her sweet soul.
If you are praying for a new thing today I just want to pray that you see Him at the well TODAY! I pray that He will shake and shift until He gets you in His timing and in the perfect location for the blessing He is about to pour out.
Then, go tell everyone what He has done…because His glory is what we were created for! Love to you all!
